New runner tails for the Swan 50 “Django”

Armare Ropes provided  a new set of runner tails to the Swan 50 Django, which will test them at the upcoming Nations League Event # 2 in Villasimius (May 31st – June 4th 2022). Let’s find out how they are made.

Swan Sardinia Challenge is one of the spectacular regattas organized by ClubSwan Racing for 2022, which promises not only fun, but also a high level of competition and adrenaline. The fleet will be in Villasimius for the Swan Sardinia Challenge, a new location for the Nations League, the Marina of Villasimius has been chosen as the ideal world-class venue, the races will take place within the beautiful Capo Carbonara Marine National Park and with the organization by the Villasimius Naval League.

For the construction we have chosen to use a new cover in blue HMPE. As with the Pure Black treatment, the fiber is colored in and out, resulting in a stable and long lasting coloring of the fibre without any compromise in terms of durability and resistance to UV rays. This cover was used for the spliced tips that allow greater slipperiness along the ways of the running backstay purchase, together with a complex lightening of the rope.

The aesthetic peculiarity of the blue cover was expressly requested by the customer, to recall the color of the hull and Armare Ropes was able to take the opportunity to create a new product (other colors e.g. red, green, yellow are now available).

The cover that works directly on the winch drum is a mix of high-performance fibers: PBO Zylon®, Kevlar® and Dyneema® with a surface treatment that increases durability and resistance to abrasion and high temperatures on the drum. The core of the ropes, instead, is made in high-performance and lightweight Dyneema® SK99.
