The regatta in Sanremo kicks-off of the 2018 season of the J/70 Cup. The circuit organized by the J/70 Italian Class and reserved to J/70 monotypes, already had a real boom in 2017 with a total of over one hundred crews representing 14 nations.
J/70 is the monotype class that has registered, in the last three years, the highest growth rate in the world: in just 5 years since its launch, more than 1,300 units have been launched. J/70 Class in Italy has exceeded the threshold of the 50 boats confirming itself as one of the largest fleets of J/70 in Europe and getting ready to become the number one class in Italy among the modern sport keelboats.
In 2018, the J/70 Cup circuit includes four events hosted in Sanremo, Porto Ercole, Malcesine and Trieste. Participation is open to crews from all over the world, thanks to the open formula that distinguishes the events promoted by J/70 Italian Class.
One of the main innovations of 2018 edition is the introduction of an event valid as Italian Championship, coinciding with the race in Malcesine, (both Overall and Corinthian, category reserved for non-professionals sailors). The appointment of Malcesine will be the last opportunity to train before the 2018 European Championship in Vigo, but also to practice in the waters that will host the J/70 European Championship in 2019.
