On board the Class 40 “Italia”, Sardinian Gaetano Mura started saturday from Cagliari for the “Solo Round the Globe Record”, the globe solo sailing without stop. Class 40 “Italia” is powered by #ArmareRopes.
Gaetano Mura started from Cagliari Saturday, October 15, in a day of sun and light winds, to gain a world record, the circumnavigation of the world in Class 40; more or less fifty boats, rafts, and even the young champions of the Windsurfing Club Cagliari, units of the Harbour accompanied the exit into the sea of Gaetano Mura. The last greetings and Gaetano is finally alone on his boat, ready for his world tour. Surprisingly, it joins another Italian boat, “Vento di Sardegna”, with Andrea Mura that caters to Gaetano a bow of respect and encouragement for the enterprise. A gesture immediately reciprocated by Gaetano Mura: this are sailors. At 16:25 the first message from Gaetano: “A beautiful emotion the start, with all the boats to accompany me, even a few moments of concern,” wrote Gaetano. “But I want to greet and thank everyone here because I have made a good start.” About navigation: “There is very little wind with a little wave, but you can sail. I’m sailing on Code Zero about 4 knots, but that’s okay, and I’ll start the time from Gibilterra”. In front of Gaetano, only 25,000 miles and more than 4 months in the sea.
Thanks to the collaboration with #SoluzioniTessili Gabriele Bacigalupo, Armare Ropes has accompanied Gaetano in the rigging of the boat with its products and is therefore directly involved in his success.
