Armare Ropes supports the young Italian sailor Cecilia Zorzi and her project “Cecilia in the Ocean” which will lead her to participate to international regattas with her new Mini 6.50 Wip.
Cecilia Zorzi is one of the most active Italian sailors with ambitious projects in development; In her career, the sailor from Trentino Region (born in 1994) followed her first experiences in Olympic classes with a campaign on Nacra 17, to then move on to offshore sailing in the Figaro class, winning the European title and a World Mixed Double title for two consecutive years.
The new “Cecilia in Oceano” project, based on a brand new Mini 6.50, will see her engaged with Wip (Mini 6.50 Series category) and with the main objective of participating to the Mini Transat in 2025, an Atlantic crossing to be completed alone and without assistance or contacts. Cecilia is currently engaged in an equally demanding challenge, her first participation in The Ocean Race, aboard the VO65 CLASS Austrian Ocean Racing powered by Team Genova.

The sports project aims to meet two main challenges: the promotion of gender equality and that of environmental sustainability. “Cecilia in Oceano” was born from Cecilia’s desire to combine a great passion for sailing with the will to fight for the causes she believes in. As sailor, Cecilia feels she has to be the first to take care of the seas and lakes. As citizens we have a duty to demonstrate the foresight of those who know that we do not have a reserve planet. In addition to the environmental issue, in sport as in life, every day we witness discrimination of all kinds, not least gender.
One of the goals of this project is to create opportunities for girls and women who have the skills, but not the ability to make them work. The first step in every battle is to give visibility and create awareness, which is why Cecilia is proud to be an ambassador of Abyss CleanUp and Women&Tech – Associazione Donne e Tecnologie.
